Despite what E4 says, we do not necessarily crave shows like Relocation To Your Attic and Top 500 Mega Hits of 1993. Indeed, as the television schedules become fogged with less quality content and more repeats, the airwaves offer a far more exciting range of informative and considered entertainment. Radio 4 seems to be getting better and better, with recent highlights including music of the Khmer Rouge and the Killing Fields (who knew Cambodian rock was so cool?) and last night’s Word of Mouth which examined how our view of the world is shaped by the language we speak. And, with radio about to forever turn its back on analogue, a small debate has flared up in the studio over the digital cross-over we are currently experiencing. More on that to come.
