Moving Brands client Flywheel, the taxi-hailing app, is one of several startups in the app-transport space that’s making headlines. They have just secured $14.8million in Series B funding, allowing them to rapidly expand into new markets.
It comes as their competitors, startups like Lyft, Sidecar and Uber, have run into criticism from both legislators and users for perceived safety flaws in their peer-to-peer model. Because Flywheel are using existing cabs and fleet, they can avoid the legislation battles and focus on delivering their expertise in the form of the technology inherent in the app.
In a clear indication that VC’s are seeing continued growth in this market, the FT recently reported that two other taxi-app startups, (Israeli company GetTaxi and Germany’s Easy Taxi), have also just secured additional backing.
Massive congrats to the Flywheel team on their investment news and their exciting expansion plans. You can learn more about them in this Tech Crunch video interview, or see the full case study of our work together here.
