The postman has just delivered a very exciting parcel….John Ingledew’s new book ‘The A-Z of visual ideas.’
As the title suggests, the book travels through the alphabet covering themes from ‘Art’ to ‘Zeitgeist,’ introducing creative ideas in the form of ad campaigns, posters, books, photographs and more.
Whilst grappling with big ideas in themes as broad as Art or Photography (or even slightly more obscure themes like Happy Accidents, Hands and Surprise) Ingledew ensures the content is both illuminating and manageable; pulling out key points under the term ‘brainjacks,’ and providing suggestions for further viewing, or DIY ways to experiment with the themes and techniques.
Moving Brands founders James and Ben were taught by Ingledew while at Central St Martins, where he was Head of Photography. The lads have kept in contact over the years, and MB was honoured to be asked to contribute work to the book. Our ‘The Looking Glass’ installation for London College of Fashion can be found under the ‘Digitality’ section.
Although generally we heed the age-old advice about not judging a book…. with a cover that promises ‘How to solve any creative brief,’ AND a hilarious visual pun, you know it’s going to be a good read.
