Last week MB’s Mat was invited to judge for a prize, the work of Central Saint Martin’s 2011 Graphic Design BA degree show. The winner received the Joss Turley Memorial Prize, money kindly donated each year by the father of a former CSM student. The show presented great talent, which also made it a tough decision for Mat to call.
Of the work, highlights for Mat included; Romain Arnette’s posters; Fernando Rodrigues’ bold type, setting and design; Jess Morgan’s beautifully observed and quietly executed film and Jan Bielecki’s graphic narratives. However the work that he felt most deserved the prize was Sydney Klasen’s work which was “extremely taught and focused, powerful stuff.”
Of course huge congratulations are due to all the students for the years of hard work they have invested. The work is on show till the 22nd of June so hurry on down and see for yourselves.
