This week MB’s close, long-standing client Swisscom launched a remarkable new offer – iO. The app allows users to make calls, chat and share images with other iO users, free of charge. Unlike other free messaging apps, iO puts people first, not numbers. All conversations are unified and attributed to one person, making connecting easier.
Moving Brands were involved from the project’s inception, helping to shape the initial user experience of the app, creating some of the original prototypes and proposing some possibilities of what iO could be; both at launch and in the future.
Our involvement over the next 12 months then spanned naming, brand identity, photography, marketing communications, several brand films, the initial design and guidelines for the website, and finally the app itself – rationalising and refining portions of the UX and developing the UI language for the iOS phone client.
With over 60,000 downloads in 24 hours (ed’s note: we’re now at over 120,000 uploads in less than two days!), an image being shared on the platform every three seconds, and already the number one free iPhone app in Switzerland, people have embraced iO. We’re thrilled to have been a part of the journey from inception to delivery, and look forward to seeing it’s continued uptake and development.
